Ronaldo back to scoring as Juventus beat Bologna

Cristiano Ronaldo and Paulo Dybala helped league leaders Juventus resumed their pursuit of the Serie A title with a 2-0 win over Bologna on Monday night.

The Maurizio Sarri‘s led side in their first game back since league resumption, eased past their mid-table hosts, Bologna, to stretch their lead over second-placed Lazio, who play next on Wednesday, to four points.

Ronaldo gave Juve the lead with a penalty after VAR found Stefano Denswil guilty of fouling Matthijs de Ligt in the area while Paulo Dybala curled home an excellent second from Federico Bernardeschi’s backheel. However, Juventus ended with 10 men following Danilo’s red card.

The Portuguese forward has now taken his tally to 22 goals from the current campaign.

Juventus had played twice since the Italian season restarted following the coronavirus pandemic without scoring. They drew 0-0 with AC Milan in the Coppa Italia semi-final before winning on penalties – and then lost the final to Napoli on spot-kicks after another goalless draw.

Despite winning the game, Juventus would now look to sort their issues at the left-back position after Mattia de Sciglio, who replaced injured Alex Sandro, also pulled up during the game holding his hamstring.

He was replaced by Danilo, who will now be suspended after picking up two yellow cards.
