Nigeria has recorded an additional 661 coronavirus cases according to the latest data released by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).
The NCDC made the revelation during its nightly update on coronavirus in Nigeria via its Twitter handle on the 18th of June.
The new cases of coronavirus in Nigeria keep increasing daily as we draw really close to 20,000.
According to the Centre, the total number of coronavirus infections in the country now stands at 19,808. The centre also stated that 6,718 COVID-19 patients have recovered and been discharged from isolations centres across the country. COVID-19 is the disease caused by the coronavirus, known formally as SARS-Cov-2.
Meanwhile, 506 people have died from COVID-19 related complications. This means that the active number of confirmed coronavirus infections in Nigerians as of the night of Thursday 18th June 2020 was 12,584.

The NCDC also showed the distribution of the disease across the states. From the data, Lagos State remains the epicentre of coronavirus in Nigeria with 8,407 cases, Abuja is second with 1,549 while Kano is third with 1,184. Cross River State remains the only state that has not recorded an incident of coronavirus in Nigeria.
