The 48-year-old impostor who was identified as Alessandro Palazzolo, a former goldsmith of Valenza, was arrested by the Turin police. The police began investigations when Andrea, former Juventus and AC Milan midfielder filed a lawsuit after being asked to pay debts he never incurred repeatedly.
According to Gazzetto Della Sport, police inquiries found out that Palazzolo had continuously deceived shopkeepers in Turin, Brescia, and Naples, asking for discounts and favours while working with an accomplice who would take expensive clothes and jewellery for free. The impostor also tried to get facilitated medical examinations by contacting the ex-footballers doctor.
The police authorities in Turin recently caught the impersonator and his accomplice by tracing phone calls and collecting testimonies from traders.
The footballer Andrea Pirlo, said it was an unpleasant experience for him as he was always approached by traders who continuously demanded payment for the goods.
