The almost daily increments of confirmed cases of Coronavirus in Nigeria have caused its government to take steps to protect its people and the Lagos state governor, Governor Jide Sanwo-Olu isn’t left out of this.

The Coronavirus has been recorded in various states in the country, but so far, Lagos state has been the biggest hit, with the state having the highest number of confirmed cases in the country hence the intense preventive measures from the government.

In a live statement, the Lagos state government ordered the closure of markets, effective from Thursday 26th March 2020.

The commissioner for health in Lagos state also took to his official Instagram page to give quotes from the Governor’s live statement.

#COVID19 Lagos Alert!” the commissioner tweets. “Market Closure Effective from Thursday 26th March 2020
“The Governor of Lagos @jidesanwoolu has ordered all markets and stores in Lagos to be closed effective from Thursday 26th March 2020.”

A retweet  from the commissioner also states: “The closure will however not affect stores where food, water, drugs, and other essential life-saving items are sold #TakeResponsibility #ForAGreaterLagos

Residents of Lagos state have been asked to comply with this new direction of the governor.  This is however not a total lockdown.
