Early life and education

Prince Ned Munir Nwoko was born on 21st December 1960 in the Royal Palace at Aniocha North LGA Idumuje-Ugboko, Delta state. Being from a royal lineage, Ned was able to attain a good education, which subsequently assisted him to excel in his professional career.

Nwoko had his primary and secondary school education in Nigeria before leaving to further his education outside the shores of the country.

He attended the University of Keele in Staffordshire, United Kingdom. This was where Ned Nwoko got his first degree in Law and History. After that, he also went to King’s College London where he attained an LLM in maritime and commercial law.

Ned got an honorary doctorate from the Commonwealth University College Belize, UK.

Nwoko is a Muslim and his middle name ‘Munir’ has Islamic origins. Although this is seen as rare because the Muslim majority is more concentrated in the northern and western parts of Nigeria. However, there is also a relatively strong community of followers of Islam in Delta state.

Ned Nwoko converted to Islam while he was studying in England but maintains that he is not religious. “I am not religious but I believe in values and ethos that is what should guide everyone’s conscience,” he says, according to an interview he granted to Premium Times in October 2019.

Prince Ned Nwoko wives and family life

As we have disclosed, although Prince Ned was not an unknown person, he was rarely at the center of media attraction. But it all changed following the then-rumors (that proved to be true) that he was the person behind the expensive cars and other luxurious that his Nollywood child-star wife, Regina Daniel, was flaunting on the internet.

Ned Nwoko and Regina Daniels

The rumours about Ned Nwoko and Regina Daniel grew more intense with her posting more pictures of her sophisticated shopping trips outside the country. If there was ever a group that believed Regina Daniels was spending all that money from her purse, they ceased to exist after the announcement of her secret wedding to Nwoko.

Tongues wagged over the age difference between Prince Ned Nwoko and his sixth (or fifth) wife, Regina. There is a statement credited to the billionaire where he said Regina Daniel was his fifth wife and not the sixth. So, we take that the former legislator is the authority on this one and will be using that number going forward.

Prince Ned Nwoko and wife, Regina Daniels.

Ned Nwoko was 59 years old when he became Regina Daniels husband. His new wife was speculated to be anything between the ages of 18 and 20. Although, the former legislator allegedly said that his wife was 22 years old and not as young as the media were projecting. We reported that Regina’s real age was more likely to be 21 as of her 2019 birthday.

Is Ned Nwoko picking a new wife after Regina Daniels?

In October 2020, there were rumours that Nigerian billionaire, politician, businessman, and legal expert, Nwoko was engaged to be married to a seventh wife. Never mind that no one knows how many wives the polygamist has in reality. However, rumor has it that Nwoko who had just reportedly made Regina Daniels his sixth wife in May 2019 was said to be already warming up for another one.

The rumours surprisingly stemmed from Regina Daniel’s Instagram posts. The actress had shared photos and videos of a lady named Sara, who uses the Instagram handle @Sar8al. In one of the photos, Sara showed off an engagement ring and it was captioned ‘Wifey’.

Additionally, Linda Ikeji blog reported that Sara posted photos of herself using the same cars that Regina Daniels uses and videos of her in the billionaire’s house. Sara’s posts were later deleted. “Insiders have also alleged that she will be going through the traditional marriage rites just like Regina Daniels, as Ned Nwoko allegedly ‘believes in culture,” the blog post alleged.

However, after days of speculations and rumours, Regina Daniels came out to refute the claim that Ned Nwoko was picking a seventh wife. “The news about Sara being my husband’s wife is completely false. She is my friend who came visiting!” the actress said.

Thus, according to Regina Daniel, her billionaire husband is not picking a new wife at this time. Throughout the ‘seventh wife’ debacle, Nwoko did not say anything. This is characteristic of the billionaire, he rarely makes public statements.

This was not the first time that rumours of a seventh wife would come up. In September 2020, a blogger called EstherSky created a YouTube channel tagged Pizzy Vibes where she posted a video claiming that Nigerian actress, Chika Ike was set to marry Ned Nwoko.

The video even showed a clip of Rita Daniels (Regina’s mother) threatening the actress to leave her daughter’s husband alone.

Nwoko himself had come out to rubbish the claim. He said; “I have not spoken to Chika  Ike in two years. I have not seen her. This is wicked. People should leave me and my family alone.” Also, Rita Daniels too came forward to explain that the clip of her posted in the video on Pizzy Vibes was doctored. She had been singing an Igbo eulogy to God in the original video.

Chika Ike herself claimed to have no knowledge of a pending wedding between herself and the billionaire.

Ned Nwoko and Regina Daniels welcome child

In June 2020, Ned Nwoko and his young wife, Regina Daniels welcomed a baby boy. On 10th July 2020, the couple named their baby Munir Neji Ned Nwoko. They held a naming ceremony at Nwoko’s Abuja Mansion and Estate.

The executives of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), led by Emeka Rollas, paid a courtesy visit to the new mum, Regina Daniels, and named her baby “Nollywood baby of the year”. We are not certain that the ‘award’ really means anything.

After the birth of Munir, Nwoko shared a photo of Regina Daniel and one of his other wives, Laila Charani in the hospital on his Instagram page.

The couple attended parties and other social functions together. Many times, they posted pictures of themselves in loving positions generally giving the message that all is fine and their union is a consensual one based on love.

How many children has Prince Ned Nwoko?

It is not certain how many children Prince Ned Nwoko has. There are numerous pictures of Ned Nwoko, Regina Daniel, and two light-skinned girls. Many media outlets claim that they are the children of Hon. Nwoko from one of his other four wives.

The billionaire also sometimes shares photos of his children on Instagram but he has never confirmed the total number of children he has. Take for instance the children photo below showing him with four young children and presumably with one of his other wives.

However, the four children above are not Price Ned Nwoko’s only children. Here is another photo he shared on Instagram showing even more children. Regina Daniels is also pictured in the photograph.

Here is another picture of a boy said to be Ned Nwoko son, who isn’t in any of the above posts. And another alleged Ned Nwoko son, as well … It’s conceivable that not all these children are Ned Nwoko’s, just as it is equally conceivable that they are. We can’t really say with any certainty and unless the Delta-born prince and politician chose to clarify things, anything said would only be speculation and at best, an intelligent guess.

However, one of Ned Nwoko’s well-known children was named Tarik Nwoko. He was the only child of the billionaire lawyer and politician known by name. Tarik was born, allegedly, by the billionaire’s Moroccan wife. Sadly, Tarik Nwoko died in 2014 after some unexplained condition. Tarik Nwoko was 22 years old when he died in his sleep. He was a law student in England at the time.

It is not really clear who among Ned Nwoko wives was the first one he married. However, speculations point out that it is likely the Moroccan wife mentioned in the preceding paragraph. Her name is Laila Charani and she may be Ned Nwoko’s first wife.

Rumours that Regina Daniel was about five months pregnant for the billionaire started going around before the couple even announced it.

Prince Ned Nwoko: Career as a lawyer

Nwoko was called to the bar at Lincoln’s Inn and joined the Crown Prosecution Service as a prosecutor. The Crown Prosecution Service is the principal public agency for conducting criminal prosecution in England and Wales. It is usually headed by anyone who is the Director of Public Prosecution.

After serving with this organisation, he joined two other firms, Kumars Solicitors and Pascaldiers & Co. Solicitors. While there, he qualified as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales. Prince Nwoko was also, at one time, the secretary-general of Nigerian Legal Practitioners in the UK.

Thereafter, he set up a law firm, Ned Nwoko & Co. Solicitors in, London, United Kingdom. He is a senior consultant with his London-based firm. The firm is focused on managing and verifying foreign debts of third-world countries, including their states.

He also has a law firm named Linas International Limited that is involved in verifying and reconciling foreign loans for states. This is specifically the Paris and London clubs’ loans.

According to reports, there have been many high-profile cases, since 2003, of the victories the law firm has won for the concerned states. It succeeded in getting these states a refund payment of all the excessive deductions. With the fame of Nwoko’s law firm spreading like wildfire, it was contacted by local governments after Nigeria successfully exited foreign debts in 2009.

The local governments charged Linas International Limited with helping them secure their funds which had been used to pay off the country’s lenders. Ned and his team also went to work and again came out victorious. The local government got their refunds in full after other high-profile court judgments.

Prince Ned Nwoko: Career as a politician

He entered the Nigerian political scene when he served as an elected legislator in the National House of Representatives from 1999-to 2003 where he represented the Aniocha / Oshimili federal constituency and was a member of the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) at the time. He contested to be deputy speaker in the House but he lost to Chibudum Nwuche.

However, he served as the leader of the Millennium Group, a group of legislators in the House of Representatives allegedly committed to good relations between the legislative and the executive branches of government.

After his term ended, he contested for the governorship of his home state, Delta state. He also lost this election to James Ibori. Thereafter, Nwoko also ran for the Delta North Senatorial seat in April 2011 and lost to Ifeanyi Okowa.

The senatorial dispute between Ned Nwoko and Peter Nwaoboshi

Prince Ned Munir Nwoko and Senator Peter Nwaoboshi had been locked in a legal battle for many months in 2019. Both political giants had been at loggerheads over who was the legal candidate to represent the Delta South Senatorial, which the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) won during the 2019 general elections.

At the high court, Ned Nwoko was temporarily declared the winner and the elected senator to represent the region. However, Nwaoboshi took the matter to the Appeal Court, and the ruling was overturned in favour of Peter Nwaoboshi.

As a last resort to claim the position, Prince Nwoko went to the highest court in Nigeria, the Supreme Court. However, the Supreme Court ruled against him and declared Peter Nwaoboshi as the rightful candidate of the PDP for the Delta State South Senatorial. The PDP had held its primary election for the senatorial seat on 2nd October 2018 in Delta State.

Nwoko was the Chairman of the External Committee of Vision 2010, a part of the aforementioned committee. Also, he is the Chairman of Project Tourism Nigeria, an initiative that his firm, Linas International Limited conceptualised. The group works with the Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation (NTDC) to project the tourism assets of Nigeria. It runs some profitable projects highlighting Nigeria’s rich cultural potential.

In 2019, the Federal University of Petroleum, Delta State, awarded Hon Prince Ned Nwoko an honorary doctorate on 26th April. The vice-chancellor of the university, Professor Akii Ibhobode, signed the nomination letter and mentioned that Nwoko had shown great philanthropy, service and integrity.

Also, in his home state, Nwoko is widely revered. In an article by Asabametro, he was portrayed as benevolent. He is said to have assisted all sorts of persons and remains approachable. It also mentioned that Nwoko was pronounced the “Great Prince of Anioma” nation by four kingdoms in Delta state, namely Ezi, Ugbodu, Ubulu-Okiti and Ute-Ogbeje. Many even offered him large pieces of land for him to build a university for his legacy.

What is Prince Ned Nwoko net worth?

Prince Ned Munir Nwoko allegedly has a net worth of less than $1 billion in 2019. Although some blogs estimate him to be worth more, he is not listed among the top 20 richest men in Nigeria in 2019. With Theophilus Danjuma being the fifth with less than $2 billion, if Ned was worth up to $1.2 billion, he would be included in the list.

Note that Aliko Dangote, Mike Adenuga, Abdulsamad Rabiu, and Folorunsho Alakija are the richest Nigerians according to a 2019 ranking of richest black people released by Forbes, released in March this year.

However, despite not having his name on the richest Nigerians list, Prince Ned Nwoko has shown some impressive displays of wealth. He lives in a large house in Delta state that many refer to as “Castle in the Air”, a fairytale reference to its beauty and the fact that it is on a hill about a thousand feet above sea level. The mansion sits on large acres of land with trees and grasses surrounding the premises. It is designed like an Arabian palace with the modernization of the Western world.

Ned also has an Olympic-sized swimming pool, built to an Olympic standard on his land. There is a table tennis court as well. The house is truly something to behold. The former lawmaker also owns a private jet and several luxury cars. And it’s conceivably he owns homes elsewhere in Nigeria and abroad as well.

We are not privy to his business investments and also his law firms are not publicly traded. So, it’s impossible for us to put a value on the business and on his assets. We also do not know if he is beholden to any loans.

In a nutshell, we don’t know Prince Ned Nwoko net worth but it’s conceivably it runs into the millions of United States dollars, given what is known about the lawyer and Delta State prince.

Prince Ned Nwoko’s story is one of not losing focus in life. Despite having everything people labored for handed to him, he still went ahead to forge a path for himself in the world. Thus, he was able to lay down marks for people coming behind him. His philanthropy is also a lesson in giving back when one can.
