After the shocking 63rd Annual Grammy Awards snub in early 2021, The Weeknd has now gone on the International Male Solo Artist Award at the BRIT Awards. This is the third time he is receiving the nomination and his first win.
In his acceptance speech, he encouraged viewers to help out those suffering in Ethiopia in any way they can. About a month ago, on 4 April 2021, he announced a donation of $1 million through World Food Programme to help civilians caught in the civil war.
According to Wikipedia, the Tigray War began around midnight of 3–4 November 2020 between the Special Forces of the Tigray Regional government, and the Ethiopian National Defense Forces (ENDF). Human Rights Watch and The New York Times have accused the fighters on both sides of committing war crimes.
