Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang says he hopes to take advantage of Sunday’s North London Derby with Tottenham as a turning point to Arsenal’s underwhelming form this season.
Spurs will go into the game a lot more confident than ever as they sit top on the Premier League standings, with Arsenal sitting eight points adrift their cross-city rivals on the wrong end of the table.
Despite Mikel Arteta’s men suffering five defeats already in the opening 10 league fixtures this season, Aubameyang insists his plan is to take the initiative from the derby and try to turn the Gunners’ fortunes around.
“I can’t wait for the derby on Sunday,” the Gabonese striker wrote in his matchday programme notes ahead of their Europa League win over Rapid Vienna on Thursday.
“I think this is the game that we have to make into a turning point for us this season.”
“There’s nothing better than this game to give you that opportunity to turn things around.
“We have to understand that if we can win this game then everyone will change their mindset. A big result in the derby can really lift the players, the fans – everyone.”
“We know it will be a tough game, they are playing well at the moment to tell the truth but we have to take care of our game, how we want to play the game, and make it all about us.”

Aubameyang will be hoping to add to his tally of 10 goals (three for Arsenal) against Spurs when the game kicks off on Sunday (17:30 GMT+1) at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
