Bundesliga Roundup: Bayern Munich topple Borussia Dortmund in an exciting Klassiker showdown; RB Leipzig continue brilliant win

Robert Lewandowski made a world of difference and continued his sensational Klassiker form as Bayern Munich enjoyed a 3-2 victory at Borussia Dortmund to go top of the Bundesliga.

Lewandowski who had two goals ruled out by VAR netted his 22nd goal against his former side to put Bayern in front three minutes after the break, with a Marco Reus’ close-range effort moments before the break already cancelled out by David Alaba’s deflected free-kick in first-half injury time.

Bayern showed more efficiency in front of goal and that made a huge difference in an end-to-end game as substitute Leroy Sane added a third.

Erling Haaland who had been poor in front of goal all night long wasting a host of chances, finally gave Dortmund hope from a Raphael Guerreiro’s ball  to make the score 3-2.

But in a match Borussia Dortmund may have felt they deserved more from, it was their visitors, the Bundesliga champions who took all three points to go top of the Bundesliga.

Freiburg returned a different side in the second half but just as they were building momentum, they conceded again as Marcel Sabitzer doubled Leipzig’s lead with a ruthless effort from the spot.  Angelino added gloss to the scoreline with a superb free-kick in the last minute to keep Leipzig in the hunt near the top of the table.
