Bundesliga Roundup: Golden boy Haaland celebrated winning the award with four goals against Hertha Berlin; Bayern played a draw

Erling Braut Haaland scored four times to help Borussia Dortmund come from a goal down to crush hosts Hertha Berlin 5-2 and climb to second place in the Bundesliga.

The Norwegian wonder-kid, Haaland, was having quite a day having been named the winner of the Golden Boy Award for 2020 earlier in the day before an inspirational second-half display ensured he got his first away goal of the campaign.

The quadruple also took his season tally to 10 goals in eight matches, one shy off top scorer Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski.

The goal machine, Haaland, struck twice between the 47th and 49th minutes as Borussia Dortmund got back in front after they found themselves trailing from a Matheus Cunha stunner from 25 yards in the 33rd minute.

He completed his hat-trick after Hertha gifted him the ball courtesy of an error and his fourth came after Raphael Guerreiro had also scored for the visitors and Hertha had briefly cut the deficit with a 79th-minute Cunha penalty.

Bayern Munich 1-1 Werder Bremen: Lackluster performance by the champions of Europe

Bundesliga Roundup

Kingsley Coman manages to rescue a point for Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich who had a bad day at the office against Werder Bremen.

The hosts had to come from behind to draw 1-1 against Bremen and slip up for only the second time in their last 35 matches in all competitions.

The German champions gave a lackluster performance and even failed to hit a single shot on target in the first half.

Werder Bremen took a deserved lead at the stroke of half-time after Josh Sargent set up Max Eggestein who beat keeper Manuel Neuer with a well-placed left-footed effort.

Bayern then had to wait until the 50th minute for Douglas Costa to rattle the crossbar with a fierce shot before the hosts were handed a lifeline by Kingsley Coman who drew them level, nodding in at the far post in the 62nd minute.

Bayern Munich are now on 19 points after 8 games played, one ahead of Borussia Dortmund.

Bayer Leverkusen who are still unbeaten in the league sit third on the log with 18 points after their 2-1 win over Arminia Bielefeld, courtesy of Aleksandar Dragovic’s 88th-minute winner on the rebound.

Schalke 04 have now gone 24 league matches without a win after slumping to a 2-0 defeat at home against VfL Wolfsburg and are currently placed 17th.
