Cristiano Ronaldo and Buffon make history in Juventus win against Torino

Cristiano Ronaldo scores his 25th goal of the season with a stunning freekick and becomes the first Juventus player since 1961 to reach 25 goals in the Serie A. The freekick goal was his 43rd attempt.

The derby win against Torino was also veteran goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon’s 648th appearance in Seria A. The 42-year-old, who made his Serie A debut for Parma as a 17-year-old in November 1995, overtook the record previously held by former AC Milan defender Paolo Maldini.

Paulo Dybala put Juventus ahead as his deflected shot found its way into the back of the net in the third minute. Juan Cuadrado scored his second Juventus goal of the season to extend their lead before Andrea Belotti pulled one back from a penalty in first-half stoppage time.

Torino was threatening an equaliser until Cristiano Ronaldo curled his shot over the wall and into the corner, his first goal in 43 free-kick attempts during just under two seasons with Juventus.

An own goal by Torino substitute Koffi Djidji completed the routing.

Cristiano Ronaldo has now scored 46 free-kick goals at club level. He scored 32 during his time at Real Madrid while 13 came when he was playing for Manchester United.

He also becomes the first Juve player to score 25 goals in a Serie A season since Omar Sivori in 1960-61.

  7. What is the probability that Ronaldo will make it 30 goals and Buffon 700 appearances before his retirement?

    Congratulations to both players.
