Real Madrid forward Karim Benzema scored and provided two assists to keep up his impressive run of form as Los Blancos eased to a 3-1 win away at Eibar on Sunday to move level on points with La Liga leaders Atletico Madrid.
Benzema and Luka Modric were on target early as Real looked to be cruising inside the opening quarter of an hour, but Kike Garcia’s reduced the deficit with a sumptuous 28th-minute strike.
Japanese midfielder Takashi Inui struck wide for the hosts after a mistake from Sergio Ramos on the edge of Real’s box, but Lucas Vazquez’s goal on the counter in added-on time ensured the visitors collected all three points.
The win was Madrid’s fifth win in a row in all competitions which moved them back up to second, separated from Atletico who have two games in hand, only by an inferior goal difference.
This was not a vintage display from Real as Eibar spurned several opportunities to level, having stumbled out of the blocks, but Zinedine Zidane’s side did enough to claim the spoils.
