NBA Christmas Day Roundup: LeBron James and Anthony Davis dominate as Lakers beat Dallas Mavericks; Other results

After their loss to their neighbors on the opening night, the Los Angeles Lakers pulled themselves back up with a 138-115 win over Luka Doncic’s Dallas Mavericks side in a lopsided match.

Though many believe the Mavs guard Luka Doncic may be the NBA‘s future, Christmas, however, showed that the league’s present still very much resides in Los Angeles.

Anthony Davis also demonstrated why he might be the heir to LeBron James‘ throne as the NBA’s best player after a dominant performance alongside James which earned him 28 points on the night.

The Lakers win pushed the defending champions back up to .500 at 1-1 while the Mavericks, meanwhile, are now 0-2 as they await the return of star big man Kristaps Porzingis.

The Lakers’ 138 points represent one of the best offensive performances of the LeBron James era despite James and Davis totaled only 61 minutes.

Dallas, however, needs a fast solution to the defensive lapse caused by Porzingis’ absence.

The Lakers would most likely have a good run from here on as seven of their next eight opponents missed the 2020 playoffs. The Mavericks have another gargantuan task on their hands as they face the other star-studded Los Angeles team, the Clippers, next on Sunday.

Golden State Warriors 99-138 Milwaukee Bucks

NBA Christmas Roundup

The Milwaukee Bucks piled more misery on the Golden State Warriors who have now lost both of their opening games this season to the Brooklyn Nets and now the Bucks in succession.

Khris Middleton led with a game-high 31 points as the Milwaukee Bucks used brilliant shooting from three-point range to gradually pull away from the visiting Golden State Warriors for a 138-99 blowout win on Christmas Day.

Giannis Antetokounmpo, however, was held to 15 points on the night, but Middleton and four other Bucks players scored in double figures as the painful last-second loss at Boston was quickly erased with their first win of the season.

Stephen Curry had a team-high 19 points while rookie James Wiseman puts in 18 of his own for the Warriors, who have been outscored by a combined 65 points in their first two games.
