NBA results: Boston Celtics beat Milwaukee Bucks in second opening night; Other Wednesday results

The Celtics escaped with a 122-121 win in a thriller against Milwaukee Bucks in Wednesday night’s season opener in what was a potential Eastern Conference finals preview.

Jayson Tatum drilled a clutch three-pointer with 1.5 seconds left as the Boston Celtics recovered after blowing a 17-point fourth-quarter lead.

Tatum also recorded 30 points on the night with that amazing bucket shot, before Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo missed the second of two free throws to tie the game after being fouled with 0.4 seconds remaining.

Jaylen Brown, however, scored most points, 33, to lead Boston along with five rebounds and four assists while Tatum added seven rebounds and two assists to his 30 points, Jeff Teague had 19 off the bench and new arrival Tristan Thompson chipped in with 12.

Philadelphia 76ers beat the Washington Wizards despite a Russell Westbrook’s triple-double

Joel Embiid poured in 29 points alongside 14 rebounds to lead the Philadelphia 76ers as they outwitted the Washington Wizards’ 113-107 in Doc Rivers’ debut as head coach of the team.

Shake Milton contributed 19 points while Ben Simmons also added 16 points, including a dunk in the final 30 seconds to ice the game. New addition Seth Curry also finished with 13 points.

Russell Westbrook, on the other hand, produced a triple-double comprising of 21-point, 15-assist, and 11-rebound for the Wizards, the 147th of his career, to become the first player in the Wizards franchise history to record a triple-double on debut.

Bradley Beal however top-scored for Washington with 31 points followed by Davis Bertans’ 14.
