Premier League: Manchester United keeping faith in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

After a run of poor results cast doubts over the future of Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solksjær, executive chairman, Ed Woodward, has said that the club remains “absolutely committed” to the Norwegian.

United ended their run of two consecutive losses at home against Arsenal in the Premier League and away at Istanbul Basaksehir in the Champions League.

However, Woodward reiterates that the club “remains absolutely committed to the positive path we are on under Ole“.

United currently sit 14th on the Premier League standings after winning and losing three games apiece from their 7 opening fixtures this term.

There was a mix-up when the club’s publisher used in releasing regulatory statements was performing a test on Thursday went incorrectly live with figures that were not scheduled to be published until Friday lunchtime (UK Time).

The Old Trafford club concluded that an investors’ conference meeting with the results, published three weeks after their 2019/20 final results were issued would not go ahead.

Compared to the same quarter last year, overall revenue (£109m) was down 19.5%.

Also, as a result of matches being played behind closed doors, matchday revenue dropped significantly, but United still generated £1.7m by combining rental income and membership sale online.

Commercial revenue has also dropped to £59.7m, a 25.7% decrease. Broadcast revenue was on the rise as Premier League games were being played in July, while commercial revenue has dropped 25.7% to £59.7m.

Also, the club will pay a dividend of $0.09 (6.86p) on shares as from 7 January 2021.

While the Covid-19 pandemic continues to cause significant disruption, we are optimistic that the recovery and normalisation phase is gradually coming into view.” Said Woodward.

“The club’s resilience and our strong commercial business continue to provide a solid foundation and gives us confidence in our long-term outlook beyond the pandemic, both on and off the pitch.
