Premier League results: Liverpool came from behind to beat Sheffield United; Manchester City held by West Ham United

Liverpool completed a 2-1 comeback victory over a spirited Sheffield United at Anfield, as goals in either half from Roberto Firmino and Diogo Jota secured all three points.

The Blades took a surprise lead after 13 minutes when VAR ruled Fabinho’s foul on Oli McBurnie had been just inside the home box – giving Sander Berge the perfect chance to beat the restored Alisson from 12 yards.

Jordan Henderson then found Sadio Mane with a stunning cross with the forward’s header palmed out by Aaron Ramsdale to Firmino, who scored just his third goal in his last 27 games for Liverpool.

The Blades continued to impress after the break but found themselves behind when Jota netted his first Premier League headed goal from Mane’s excellent delivery.

The victory ensures Liverpool leapfrog Aston Villa – who have played a game less – into second place, level with city rivals Everton, who also have a game in hand.

West Ham 1-1 Man City: Phil Foden rescues point for the visitors

Phil Foden needed only six minutes after coming off the bench to earn Manchester City a 1-1 draw at West Ham, cancelling out Michail Antonio’s spectacular first-half opener.

Premier League Matchday 6

West Ham were in front just inside 18 minutes as Antonio opened the scoring with a wonderful overhead kick that was allowed to stand after a check for handball against Tomas Soucek.

However, the visitors levelled thanks to Foden’s well-taken strike in the second half, with the midfielder replacing Sergio Aguero at half-time.

As a result, both sides miss out on the chance to move into the top four, with each now on eight points.

Fulham 1-2 Crystal Palace: Wilfried Zaha continues fine form in a comfortable away win

Wilfried Zaha’s fine form continues this season as the winger created one goal and scored another to help Crystal Palace ease to a 2-1 win over Fulham at Craven Cottage.

Premier League Matchday 6

Jairo Riedewald gave his side the lead when he took Zaha’s pass and finished inside Alphonse Areola’s near post after just eight minutes.

The hosts, however, were almost level when Aleksandar Mitrovic blazed his rebound over after Ademola Lookman’s strike hit the post midway through the opening period.

Zaha then met Michy Batshuayi’s cross in the 64th minute to score and put the contest to bed as Fulham’s wait for a first Premier League win of the season goes on.

Their fourth defeat of the term was compounded when Aboubakar Kamara’s challenge on Ebere Eze was upgraded to a red card in the closing stages.

They got a late consolation (90+5) though as Tom Cairney got them a goal but the result means Fulham remain bottom of the table with a solitary point from their opening six games.
