Premier League Roundup: Arsenal come from behind to smash Leicester; Man City wins 14th straight league game

Arsenal produced a stunning fightback to beat Leicester City on Sunday in the early kickoff as goals from David Luiz, Alexander Lacazette, and a tap in from Nicolas Pepe cancelled out Youri Tilemans opener for the Foxes.

Following a dramatic turn of events in the Europa League on Thursday which saw Arsenal score two late goals against Benfica to earn a slot in the round of 16, the Gunners had to come from behind again to earn three points at the King Power Stadium.

Youri Tielemans put Leicester ahead inside 6 minutes thanks to some poor Arsenal defending, but the visitors levelled through David Luiz’s clever header from a Willian free-kick before halftime.

VAR had earlier correctly denied Arsenal a penalty for Wilfred Ndidi’s nudge on Pepe, just outside the box, but the two were involved again as Pepe’s shot struck Ndidi’s hand in the box, spotted by VAR, allowing Alexandre Lacazette to score from the spot on the stroke of halftime.

Pepe then extended Arsenal’s lead with a simple close-range finish shortly after the second half kicked off and the gunners rode out the victory after 90 minutes.

The result means Leicester stay third, with Chelsea six points behind but with a game in hand, while Arsenal are up to ninth above Tottenham for a few hours at least.

Premier League Roundup

Manchester City centre-backs Ruben Dias and John Stones were the scorers for the citizens on Saturday as Pep Guardiola’s men beat West Ham United 2-1 to extend their run of league wins to 14 in a row.

The hosts enjoyed the early possession at the Etihad Stadium and went in front on the half-hour with their first shot on target, Dias heading in Kevin De Bruyne’s pinpoint cross for his first Man City goal.

Michail Antonio who hit the post three minutes earlier eventually scored to pull West Ham back in the game with two first-half minutes remaining. The forward scoring from Jesse Lingard’s shot from close range to end City’s 587-minute run of not conceding a home league goal.

Stones, however, restored City’s lead midway through the second half, finishing well after skillful work from Riyad Mahrez on the right.
