Premier League Roundup: Liverpool cruises past Tottenham Hotspur as Harry Kane leaves injured (Video)

Premier League holders Liverpool finally grabbed their first victory of 2021 in the league as two goals in the second-half saw them win 3-1 at Spurs, who now have more to worry about as Harry Kane left injured.

The Reds enjoyed themselves in the opening period, dominating on every inch of the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, but were almost a goal down inside two minutes when Heung-Min Son ran through and slotted home but VAR ruled Son had been marginally offside.

Roberto Firmino, however, fired Jurgen Klopp’s side into a deserved lead on the stroke of half time to record their first league goal of the calendar year.

Tottenham would have wished for better luck as the captain of the side Harry Kane after being twice seen by the physio before half-time, was substituted at the break. They also looked to be in even more trouble when Trent Alexander-Arnold doubled the advantage less than two minutes after the restart.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, however, managed to quickly halve the deficit with a sweet first-time effort but Liverpool added a third through Sadio Mane who swept home from a back-to-form Alexander-Arnold delivering a wonderful ball from deep.

The Reds are now up to fourth in the table.
