Manchester United gave a very convincing show on Sunday to move into the third position in the Premier League after a 6-2 victory over Leeds at Old Trafford.
Goals were predicted between these old rivals, and the goals duly flooded in, and very early too.
United were two goals up inside the first three minutes of the match through Scott McTominay and it even got easier for the Reds’ third goal as Leeds’s defence rolled out the red carpet for Bruno Fernandes from 12 yards.
By the 37th minute mark, United were four goals up to the surprise of many. Lindelof converted at the far post after Anthony Martial flicked on a corner.
Leeds did pull one back through Liam Cooper’s header from their own corner threatening a possible comeback, but Man Utd regained their four-goal lead as Daniel James slid the ball through the legs of Illan Meslier following a counter-attack.
Fernandes’ got his second of the match via the penalty spot and made it 6-1 but the goals weren’t done as Stuart Dallas curled a beauty into the top right corner for 6-2.
Manchester United, in particular, could have easily made double figures registering 26 shots, meaning Man Utd moved five points off leaders Liverpool with a game in hand.
