Transfer Updates: Newcastle signs Callum Wilson and Ryan Fraser; Everton snap up Allan and James Rodriquez

Bournemouth’s striker Callum Wilson has signed for Newcastle United for a reported fee worth £20m on a four-year deal.

Wilson flew from the south coast to Tyneside in Mike Ashley’s private helicopter after turning down Aston Villa to complete the deal, leaving Bournemouth after six years following their relegation to the Sky Bet Championship.

He becomes the third-highest transfer fee paid by Newcastle for a player, behind Joelinton (£40m from Hoffenheim in 2019) and Miguel Almiron (£21m from Atlanta United in 2019).

The 28-year-old striker, capped four times by England, is set to link up with former team-mate Ryan Fraser, who has also agreed to join Newcastle as a free agent on a five-year deal and completed his medical on Monday.

Wilson played 187 times for Bournemouth after arriving from Coventry in 2014 and scored 67 goals. He also attracted interest from Fulham, West Ham, and Tottenham this summer after previously being linked with a move to Chelsea.

He scored eight Premier League goals last season but it was not enough to help the Cherries survive as their five-year stint in the top flight came to an end.

Wilson and winger Ryan Fraser are now both new recruits for Newcastle United.

They are set to be joined by Norwich’s Jamal Lewis, with the left-back expected to undergo a medical at the club on Tuesday.

The 22-year-old was left out of Northern Ireland’s squad to face Norway at Windsor Park on Monday night and will make his way to Tyneside to finalize his move in a deal worth £15m.

Everton doing good business in the transfer window

Everton have completed the signing of Colombia midfielder James Rodriguez for £22m from Spanish club Real Madrid.

The 29-year-old has signed a two-year deal with Everton with an option for a third season as he links up with Carlo Ancelotti for the third time, having played under him at Bayern Munich and Real.

Everton have also completed the signing of Brazil midfielder Allan from Napoli on a three-year contract.

The 29-year-old moves to Goodison Park for an undisclosed fee, but Everton have paid €25m (£22.3m) plus an additional €3m (£2.7m) in incentives, according to reports.

Ancelotti has now been reunited with two players he has previously worked with at Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Napoli respectively.

It was Carlo Ancelotti who signed James from Monaco as a Real manager in 2014 before he went on a two-season loan to Bayern in 2017 when Ancelotti was in charge of the German side.

Allan, who has been capped nine times by Brazil also reunites with Carlo Ancelotti at Everton, having previously worked under the Italian for two seasons while he was in charge of Napoli.

The draw of Ancelotti saw Everton beat off competition from Atletico Madrid and Borussia Dortmund to capture Allan, who spent five years in Naples.

Everton are also set to sign midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure after an agreement was reached with Watford for a fee worth £25m, including add-ons.

Doucoure has been given permission to discuss personal terms and take a medical at Everton.

Watford had begun negotiations wanting £35m for the French midfielder, while Everton values him closer to £25m.
