Oprah Winfrey denies advising Meghan Markle and Prince Harry to leave the Royal Family

She made this known during a question and answer session with PEOPLE.

“Meghan and Harry do not need my help figuring out what’s best for them,” she told PEOPLE.

She continued: “I care about them both and support whatever decisions they make for their family.”

This is coming after Page Six published a report claiming that Oprah Winfrey advised Meghan and Prince Harry to step back from being senior royals, move to America, and build their own brand.

The report also went further to claim that the royal couple’s A-list friends, including George and Amal Clooney, Priyanka Chopra, among others, also gave them advice.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced on 8 January 2020 that they would step back from being senior royals and split their time between North America and Canada.

“After many months of reflection and internal discussions, we have chosen to make a transition this year in starting to carve out a progressive new role within this institution. We intend to step back as ‘senior’ members of the Royal Family and work to become financially independent while continuing to fully support Her Majesty The Queen,” their statement read in part.

The Queen subsequently released a curt statement after reports claimed that the rest of the royal family did not know about the note before the couple shared their announcement on Instagram.

After the announcement, however, Meghan Markle has returned to Canada where she reportedly left her son, Archie Mountbatten-Windsor with a nanny.
