Chelsea continues to maintain their unbeaten run of games under newly appointed manager, Thomas Tuchel, as Everton became their newest casualty after a 2-0 victory at Stamford Bridge on Monday night.
In a crucial contest in the race for Champions League qualification, Kai Havertz who was among the five changes made to the starting line up that won against Liverpool made decisive contributions in either half as Chelsea proved a cut above their resurgent top-four rivals.
Havertz’s deflected shot ended up in the back of the net to give Chelsea the lead in the 31st-minute of the game, likewise, the German was involved in the Blues second of the night after he won the second-half penalty off Jordan Pickford thereby handing Jorginho the opportunity to double the hosts’ lead from the spot.
The win becomes Tuchel’s eighth victory as Chelsea manager and it extends his unbeaten start to 11 games. The Blues have now opened up a four-point lead over fifth-placed Everton, who saw their three-game winning run end with a whimper in the capital.
