Unidentified gunmen suspected to be bandits have killed Ondo State traditional ruler, the Olufon of Ifon, Oba Israel Adeusi on Thursday 26th November 2020.
According to several reports, Oba Israel Adeusi, the Olufon of Ifon, a traditional ruler in Ondo State was shot dead by bandits. The incident occurred on Thursday 26th November 2020 while he was on his way back from meeting traditional rulers from other states.
The Olufon of Ifon and his convoy were attacked along the Ifon-Benin Highway at Elegbeka community. He did not die on the spot according to sources but rather died from his wounds at the Federal Medical Centre in Owo where he was rushed to for treatment.
Tee Leo-Ikoro, the Police public relations officer of Ondo State, confirmed the shooting. Additionally, he revealed that the assailants kidnapped two other people in the ruler’s convoy.

The police in the state are already working to apprehend the shooters, bring them to book and free the kidnapped victims. Social media users reacted to the news in shock. They also voiced their concerns over the insecurity in Ondo State. See some tweets below:
