David Beckham speaks Yoruba and 8 other languages for Malaria Must Die campaign (Video)

The Malaria Must Die campaign has enlisted the help of David Beckham to encourage people to speak up about one of the deadliest diseases that affect mostly the poor living in Sub-Saharan Africa and Asia.

In the video of the campaign featuring the English football legend, David Beckham ‘speaks’ nine different languages.

The now-retired footballer can be seen speaking Yoruba, French, Arabic and Spanish as well as Hindi with the help of the latest AI video synthesis technology to highlight the universal dangers of the disease in the world’s first voice petition.

The 55 seconds video shows Beckham sitting at a table as he tells viewers: “Malaria isn’t just any disease. It’s the deadliest disease that’s ever been.”

He is then given the voices of men and women from around the world to show that it is a general problem and could affect anyone regardless of age, religion, nationality or gender.

Just before the end of the video, the English footballer also says:

One voice can be powerful but all of our voices together then they will have to listen. Malaria must die so that millions can live.

Beckham worked closely with Dr Elvis Eze, who can be heard speaking Yoruba in the video. He says: “Dr Elvis Eze, who was with us on set, has suffered malaria many times and, as a doctor, he has seen how dangerous this disease can be.”
