Meet 6 year old boy making $11m reviewing toys on YouTube

What if you could turn your passion into a business? What if that business is successful and brings in millions of dollars in advertising revenue?

Sometimes, one might be tempted to think (successful) footballers have the best job, and they may not be wrong we suspect. Not just the mind-blowing weekly wages we read on the web pages that footballers receive, but more so doing something they love and are paid the big bucks for doing it. Passion checked? Checked.

So, when news broke that a six-year-old boy known simply as Ryan (no surname) was making over $11,000,000.00 yearly on YouTube just for reviewing toys, we were intrigued! Everybody knows that most kids love toys but that usually meant their parents are out of pocket in a manner of speaking.

So we decided to check out this story and what we learnt motivated us. And if anyone feels differently, trust us, their case is with their villagers only a pastor/imam/babalawo will deliver them. Just kidding.

So according to Forbes, Ryan is one of the top highest YouTube stars for 2017 and tied with another YouTuber Smosh at number eight spot.

And it all started back in 2015 when Ryan was just 3, his mum told TubeFilter.

She says: “Ryan was watching a lot of toy review channels – some of his favourites are EvanTubeHD and Hulyan Maya — because they used to make a lot of videos about Thomas the Tank Engine, and Ryan was super into Thomas.

One day, he asked me, ‘How come I’m not on YouTube when all the other kids are?’ So we just decided — yeah, we can do that. Then, we took him to the store to get his very first toy — I think it was a Lego train set — and it all started from there.”

The Channel was launched in March 2015 but it was not until July 2015 did they have a break thanks to a video that went viral.

The video featured Ryan opening and reviewing a “GIANT EGG SURPRISE” box containing over 100 toys from Pixar’s “Cars” series. It currently has close to 800 million views.

Ryan’s mum Loann quit her job as a teacher to manage the YouTube account fulltime.

The channel now tends to review new toys or kids’ food products, and the videos usually feature earnest and enthusiastic commentary from Ryan with off-camera guidance from his parents.

Loann and husband Sean, a structural engineer, are putting the YouTube earnings into a college savings account for Ryan and a trust fund for him and his twin sisters, Emma and Kate.

The parents say the family will only continue making the videos until Ryan gets bored with them.

  10. @Sidomex I am intrigued as you are, that a 7 year old boy could be this creative. Keep soaring like an Eagle Ryan. One day you might be the youngest bill gate.
