Happy new year guys!! Welcome to the year 2019. It’s time for a masterpiece accomplishment.
This year can be an amazing year for you, if only you can focus on making the most out of what you do. Last year, 2018, has come and gone, never to appear again. However, 2019 is here to stay, at least till December 31. You can decide to stick to whatever happened last year, or you can choose to ride on the new goodies this year has come with. I would rather choose to focus on the new rather than worry myself with the old.
In the light of the above, we bring to you, a quote that concurs with the idea of putting your energy on doing what is right for the now as it can affect your tomorrow, hence, saying goodbye to what may have happened yesterday.
Our today’s quote is the mind-blowing words of an American basketball player and head coach at the University of California, Los Angeles. Nicknamed the “Wizard of Westwood,” he won ten NCAA national championships in a 12-year period as head coach at UCLA, including a record seven in a row.
“Make each day a masterpiece”- John Robert Wooden
The quote above is said to be third item in the list of “Seven Things to Do” given to Coach John Wooden by his father. However, this list later became known as Coach Wooden’s “Seven Point Creed.”
The point John is trying to drive home with this quote is that, nothing can be done concerning what has happened yesterday, and that you can only control your tomorrow simply by what you do today. Don’t ever think that you can gain a meaningful today by focusing on what went wrong in your yesterday. All you can do with that is to examine what has happened, take away the lesson, then let go of it. I know 2018 came with so much drama, but I can announce to you that it is gone for good. Embrace 2019, embrace your today, and ensure your tomorrow.
Focus on making each day a masterpiece using elements like preparation and discipline as was highlighted by John Wooden in his Masterpiece Strategy. Plan every step you need or desire to take today and within the year. Strategically position yourself. Also, inculcate some discipline in whatever you are doing. Don’t slack in anyway, do not procrastinate, act on them as the ideas drops. More so, be kind to people. Learn to extend a hand of help and kindness to someone who needs it. Coach Wooden said “You cannot live a perfect day without doing something for someone who will never be able to repay you.” Go the extra mile and make someone happy. Don’t loose any opportunity of making your day a masterpiece because, your today has a lot to do with your tomorrow.
