This young lady was bathed in acid. Read how she’s conquering her world

A young Nigerian lady who was a victim of an acid bath just reminded us not to stop dreaming and reaching for our goals even in the face of difficulties.

Facebook user Chizzy Frances shared her story on the social network. She tells how being discriminated against because of her facial disfigurement, more so a disfigurement caused by another had not stopped her from reaching for the stars.

According to Chizzy, she was a victim of an acid attack that left her face badly disfigured. This happened when she was still very young. Being young then, she hadn’t felt any different. But how could she, when it is what we are inside that define us and the outside is just cosmetic coatings in a manner of speaking?

After her treatment which lasted about a year and a half, Chizzy will have have to face the world and continue her life. But it wasn’t that straightforward. As humans, unless one is a confirmed recluse living on some isolated island, one must of necessity interact with other humans. And so it was for Chizzy but she was spurned. People ran away at the sight of her face. She says her “sweet mum” was a pillar of support encouraging her and telling her that she will succeed in life.

And so far, she’s attaining her life goals. She says she has completed her first degree and is serving her mandatory national youth service aka NYSC.

Chizzy says she’s not resting on her oars and has bigger dreams she wants to achieve. She has a message for the world: “know that having a scar on your face doesn’t stop you from shining,” she announces.

Read her post edited for clarity.

Some years back I became a victim of an acid bath. I wasn’t too bothered because I was still tender. I stayed at d hospital for about a year and six months. I came out and I had to face the world with the help of my parents.
I started school, people will see me and they will be scared. It was quite challenging. I will ask myself will I make it with this condition? My sweet mum will encourage me: ‘sweetheart you will make it’.” I will smile and be happy at least I will make it but my fear was will I be better? She will tell me I will.
I entered secondary school, I paired with people some will like to relate to me while some won’t.  Still, it did not stop me from moving on. Some will ask: ‘does she has a boyfriend?’ Do you know why? It’s because they feel no one will love her with a scar on her face. I will laugh. Still, I moved on.
People were asking many questions about me because I amaze people. Today she is a graduate and a corp member (NYSC. It is God’s grace at work in my life.
“The funniest of all is that my enemies did not know I will move on this big and I will surprise them, making it bigger and letting the whole world know that having a scar on your face doesn’t stop you from shining. #Proud of my self
#come into my world and experience a real happiness

  5. I remember this girl, she’s a corper. Always wondered why her face was like that. Didn’t know it was acid attack. This can bring down her self-esteem. Maybe she can go for a cosmetic surgery, if she can afford it. There is nothing Oyinbo cannot do.
