Before dawn fell, as many as 50 failed to see the Sun and neither will they ever see it anymore as their lives were blown apart by a bomb detonated by a teenager in the town of Mubi, in Adamawa State.
The Police Spokesman, Othman Abubakar, said that the explosion occurred at approximately some minutes after 5 this morning in the Kunu Araha area in the Northern side of the town of Mubi. He had said earlier:
“We were made to understand that there was a bomb blast at a mosque in Mubi and over 30 lives were lost. A boy about 17-year-old wearing a suicide vest entered the mosque along with other worshippers. Immediately after the prayers, he detonated the bomb. Many of the wounded are receiving treatment at various hospitals in Mubi North where the attacks occurred around Kunu Araha area”
Although the rescue workers who first arrived at the scene claimed that the death toll was at a disturbing 40 and many more were injured.
Reports have now reached the media that the death toll has reached as many as 50 and the Police are as yet trying to confirm the number of injured people.
The attack in Adamawa is a first since 2014, following the liberation of the state from the grip of the deadly Boko Haram Sect.
