Coronavirus: 14 new cases confirmed as number of cases in Nigeria rise to 111

The Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has announced fourteen new cases of the Coronavirus in Nigeria.

This takes the total number of the confirmed cases in Nigeria to 111, with one recorded Coronavirus-related death and three discharged from the hospital.

Fourteen new cases of #COVID19 have been reported in Nigeria; 9 in Lagos and 5 in FCT,” the official NCDC account tweeted.

As at 09:30 pm 29th March there are 111 confirmed cases of #COVID19 reported in Nigeria with 1 death.”

Lagos State has recorded the highest number of confirmed cases in the country with a total of 68 people infected in Lagos, while 21 people in Abuja have been confirmed to have contracted the virus.

Oyo State has seven cases, Ogun State has three cases, while Enugu, Bauchi, Osun, and Edo State have two cases each. Other States like Ekiti, Rivers, Benue, and Kaduna State have one case each.

In a response to the rising cases of the COVID-19 virus in Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari, during a live address on 29 March put into effect a lockdown in the three most affected States which are Lagos, Ogun, and Abuja. Ogun State was included for its close proximity to Lagos State.

Nigerian have been urged to remain calm in the face of the Coronavirus and to employ safety guidelines in their daily lives.
