According to Punch online, the courses have been unbundled into seven courses which are: Journalism and Media Studies, Public Relations, Advertising, Broadcasting, Film and Multi-Media Studies, Development Communication Studies, and Information and Media Studies.
NUC Secretary, who made the announcement on behalf of the commission said that the new rule will take effect from the end of the first quarter of 2020.
He further said that a new curriculum for Communication Studies will be distributed to educators in the country. Schools without the capability to teach the new courses, however, will be given permission to retain Mass Communication as a single course.
