Prof. Rahamon Bello who is leaving his seat as the Vice Chancellor of the University of Lagos has made it known that many who beat the JAMB cutoff mark will not still gain admission into one of Nigeria’s most rated University.
Noting that about 32,000 had passed the examination required mark, only 8,000 will be given admission to further their studies in the school.
Prof. Bello who steps down tomorrow for the present Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academics), Prof. Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, to take over said that the reason why more than half the number of applicants who passed the UTME examination will not enter the school is because they could not pass the 40% requirement that the school set in its post-UTME.
He said: “We know what goes on in our public examinations. That is why we insist on candidates undertaking our post UTME and scoring at least 40 per cent’’ adding that only the best were admitted into the school to maintain the high standards that gave it its prestige.
