Monday motivation: “Don’t judge each day by the harvest you reap…” – Robert Louis Stevenson

It’s another Monday and we’re sharing some Monday Motivation nuggets to get you through the week.

No one likes Mondays; in fact, some people dread Mondays all the way from Sunday until they are at work the next day, and the reason why is simple.

People see their jobs as jobs – those mandatory things that they do for money, and not for the seeds that they are planting into their lives and futures.

Perspective is everything and can be the difference between enjoying your life and ruing your decisions. It can also be the key to living a happier life even if you don’t currently enjoy your job.

Today’s Monday Motivation quote is from celebrated Swedish novelist, Robert Louis Stevenson. He is best known for the books, Treasure Island, Kidnapped, Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, and A Child’s Garden of Verses.

His quote goes thus:

“Don’t judge each day by the harvest you reap but by the seeds that you plant.” – Robert Louis Stevenson.

A careful analysis of this quote reveals that it is quite deeper than it first reveals and is multidimensional – it applies to almost every situation.

[bctt tweet=”You can also learn so much from today’s quote. While you’re at work today, and even after, don’t think of the tasks you’re doing now as just work.” username=”Sidomex”]

As for the inspiration behind this quote, everyone knows that writing novels is not an easy task. It involves hours of sitting in one spot, painting pictures of scenes that only exist in one’s head.

You certainly cannot get through writing just by thinking of how the book will look, because especially for upcoming writers, your book may remain a manuscript.

To get through it, you need to focus on the now, on the words that you are putting on the page. That is no doubt how Robert Louis Stevenson managed to write so many books in his short life.

You can also learn so much from today’s quote. While you’re at work today, and even after, don’t think of the tasks you’re doing now as just work.

Put your best into it, believing that by doing a perfect job, you’re planting important seeds into your life that will one day give you a bountiful harvest.

Imagine if after working for so long and so hard, you find out that someone has been observing you and then gives you a much better job that is more in line with your passion, just because of what you’re doing now.

Remember that if it’s worth doing at all, then it’s worth doing well.
