Monday motivation quote: “Excellence is an art won by training and habituation…” – Aristotle

Welcome to another Monday and along with it, a Monday Motivation quote to get you through the week, especially for those working from home amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

After a seemingly long weekend, it can be hard to summon the right level of motivation required to do excellent work, but you know what? Your employer does not care that you’re lacking motivation and you shouldn’t too!

Motivation is fleeting – it comes and goes, sometimes depending on our mood. You should not rely on motivation to do perfect work, instead, decide every day that you want to attain excellence at everything you do in life.

This mindset will keep you going at the maximum motivation for as long as you need to complete every project that falls into your lap. Because of this, we have selected a quote by the famous philosopher, Aristotle.

Aristotle is famous for many things. He was a Greek Philosopher and Polymath who lived between 384 to 322 BC. Alongside his teacher, Plato, he has been hailed as the father of Western Philosophy.

However, Aristotle was not only a philosopher. His interests ran across physics, biology, zoology, metaphysics, logic, ethics, esthetics, poetry, theatre, music, rhetoric, psychology, linguistics, economics, politics and government.

His work was so important that it is still in use until today throughout the World. Now, imagine how much excellence Aristotle dedicated to his work every single day in order to be a revolutionary in all these fields.

It was definitely not a case of waiting for motivation, but by choosing excellence every day.

“Excellence is an art won by training and habituation. We do not act rightly because we have virtue or excellence, but we rather have those because we have acted rightly. We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit.” – Aristotle.

We are what we repeatedly do, Aristotle says, and it is the truth. If you dedicate two hours every day to doing the perfect job, you will grow into excellence. You will never achieve this by doing halfhearted work.

So, we urge you to stay safe, wash your hands, stay in isolation to protect yourself from Coronavirus, and of course, take Aristotle’s advice by doing your most excellent work every day.

How do you make sure you’re doing excellent work every day? Share your thoughts with us in the comments section below.
