Unlearn some habits to learn new ones.

Vince Lombardi said and I quote, “The man at the top of the mountain didn’t fall there.” Nobody leads a better life without putting in an effort, focused action, personal discipline and energy to make things work. In the process, some habits have to be formed while some have to be dropped.

Whether you like it or not, our habits shape us. Our daily lives are a series of habits played out through the day. Habits are acquired from training, influences, observance, and practice. We acquire a lot of habits throughout our life, which some are good and others are bad. Good habits we can keep, but if you want to better your life, then you have to do away with the bad or unhealthy habits. Set them ablaze! Better life habits have the potential to increase your well-being and ability to perform effectively. But, on the other hand, bad/unhealthy habits have the potential to decrease your well-being and kill you slowly. Eliminating bad habits however isn’t simple, especially if a dependency is involved. For this reason, you have to learn how to change your habits because to be able to learn a new habit, you have to, first of all, unlearn the old one.

Some Unhealthy Habits You Need To Unlearn

To become a better person in life, there are some habits you need to do away with. These habits might seem a little insignificant but, it does a lot to our personality.

1. Making Excuses. Individuals wander through life making excuses. Anytime an individual sees something complicated, they’ll frequently make excuses why they can’t deal with the issue. This is a rough-cut problem in the world, which we’ve all heard trillions of times. If you’re out to better your life, you need to state, “This is something that blocks me from making progress and I have got the might to change it. The first key to success is to quit making excuses.

2. Judging people. This is a common error individual make in the world. They spend time labelling other people and themselves. This gets them nowhere but in a world of chaos. Every now and then, you have something to say about someone or some people, most times its negative. That’s a wrong habit. Make a commitment to do away with judging people and of course judging yourself.

3. Negative thinking. Do you think negatively? I can’t alter this. My life is full of bunk; I can’t swing it any longer. Why me? If you spend your life believing negative and stating negative connotations, attempt changing your ways today. For example, state, I may change something and I’m going to. Rather than stating life is full of bunk, accept it as truth yet move forward to making your life better.

4. Multitasking. Do not try to juggle everything at the same time. Take life step at a time. Once you begin to make changes to improve your life, begin small. Rather than jumping the gun, take little steps to success. Too many times individuals try to change overnight. This only leads to frustration.

5. Not exercising. This not only puts you at risk of getting overweight, but it also leaves you less motivated about life and you can lose the strength and vigour to go about your day.

Some Healthy Habits You Need To Learn

Just like unhealthy habits, there are some healthy and life-changing habits you need to learn to help you lead a better life.

1. Positive thinking. Learn to be optimistic about life. Learn to always focus on the good side of life. Believe you can do that stuff you want to accomplish. Trust the great people around you. Positive thinking goes a long way to motivate you to do the other things required.

2. Exercise. Most people exercise just to lose weight. But, asides from this basic reason, exercising helps you feel better about yourself and boost your confidence. It also relieves your stress and helps you foster good mental well-being. Choose any exercise regime that you can adhere to. It can be a gym workout, going for a run, home routine, etc. Whatever you feel works for you start it and be consistent.

3. Focus on one goal/single tasking. Taking a step at a time helps you become more efficient and productive. To achieve more than when you pack everything at the same time. Also, you become less stressed and stronger to pursue another task. Constant juggling between tasks limits your focus and contributes to mental clutter by making it difficult for your brain to filter out irrelevant information.

4. Daily Ritual. It will help you get a great start to your day, and finish your day by preparing for the next day. It’ll help you firmly root the productive habits you want to firm in your everyday life. It’ll help you focus on what’s important, not just what comes up. It’ll help you make sure you get done all the things you really want to make sure gets done every day. And that can mean a lot.

5. Eat healthily. Food also helps to set us in good shape. You will need to develop a good eating habit. Less fizzy drinks, less oily food, reduce your calories, drink more water during the day and less at night, don’t skip your breakfast, etc.
