Singer Aramide appointed to Grammy’s governance board

Singer Aramide has secured a spot on The Recording Academy (Grammy) governing board.

She took to her social media – read Twitter – to share the announcement, writing:

“I’m happy to announce to you that after being an active voting member of the recording academy for years, this Monday, I will be inducted into the Recording Academy (the GRAMMYs®) Governance Board. I will now be a part of the Governors for the Washington DC Chapter board.”

“When I started music, all I knew was I wanted to sing. I just wanted my voice to be heard. But now, music is so much more for me, it’s more than just making my voice heard. Its more about inspiring, elevating, uplifting, influencing, encouraging and telling different beautiful stories,” she started her series of tweets announcing the news.

She continues:

“I was at a certain point in my life where everything seemed lost. I was in a state of despair, I was hopeless, unhappy, dejected and scared-scared to fail, scared I wouldn’t make it, scared my music will not be accepted. Life was beginning to feel like a nightmare in a nightmare.”

“I was numb-numb to emotions, numb to life. But there’s one thing about music…where words fail, music speaks. Music provokes lots of emotions and I channelled everything I felt at that point into my music.”

“I’m most definitely proud of where the music has brought me, proud of the many lives it has touched, proud of the people I’ve been able to inspire and encourage through music. I’m proud of the beautiful stories I’ve been able to tell.”

Congratulations, Aramide!
