The president of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Emeka Rollas, has come out to defend his decision to appoint Senator Abbo a patron of the Guild.
This comes after some actresses took to social media to express their strong disapproval of the appointment.
Now, Emeka Rollas has granted an interview to defends his actions with respect to the appointment. The president was a guest of Plus TV’s One On One interview programme.
On what his reaction is regarding the demand of actress Hilda Dokubo, the first person to publicly decry the appointment, Emeka replies:
“Thank God you used the word she is demanding. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. She wasn’t at the event and if she was offended, she could have written a letter to the guild in the form of a petition. There are ways to go about thing,” he states.
The president further stated that the Guild has a process for picking a patron and that Senator Abbo will be representing the North-East zone.
Kate Henshaw and Hilda Dokubo had expressed their strong displeasure about the new appointment. That was because the Senator, some time last year, was caught on camera hitting a woman at a sex toy. According to the actresses, the actions made him unfit to be a patron of the AGN.
