AGN Scandal: Monalisa Chinda releases press statement to address concern

Recently, the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) president, Emeka Rollas, appointed Senator Abboh a patron of the AGN raising a storm of protest from a section of the Guild who thought the Senator should not be a patron of the association.

So the president went on air to defend his decision after some actresses came out to express their displeasure on the new appointment.

The president of AGN granted an interview where he stated that if anyone had complaints, they should write a petition to the AGN as there were procedures to deal with such things.

Maybe some people did that because last night, the public relations officer (PRO) of the AGN, Monalisa Chinda, took to her Instagram page to release a press statement from the Actors Guild of Nigeria.

According to the statement, they have heard the voices of concerns from some of the actors and were willing to look into the matter.

Apparently, the female actors are kicking against the new appointment because of a scandal involving the Senator, where he went to a sex toy shop and slapped the owner.

When veteran actress Kate Henshaw expressed her concerns, she stated that there were female members in the AGN and they weren’t ready to be slapped.

The press release reads:

PRESS RELEASE
WE HEARD YOUR VOICES OF CONCERN

This is a special appeal to our teeming members, fans and associates that the Actors Guild of Nigeria, AGN is mindful of the feelings of some members with regards to the choice of Senator Ishaku Abbo as National Patron, North East Zone of AGN.

In view of this, the National President, Mr Emeka Rollas Ejezieh, has called for a general meeting of stakeholders on Monday 23/03/2020 at Natives Restaurant and Lounge, Ojo Ologbun Close, off Idejo street, Victoria Island Lagos. Time: 11 am.

“The object of this meeting is essentially to tackle this issue and other relevant matters relating to the AGN and its quest to improve the welfare of members.

However, a committee has been set up to look immediately into the complaints and indeed grievances of members and make urgent recommendations to the National Executive Committee for immediate action.

We urge our teeming members and in particular those that have expressed strong reservations about this subject in issue to please desist from further comments on social media and join other stakeholders at a professional table of brotherhood on Monday as we collectively engage in a dialogue of hope, unity and harmony in our AGN.

God bless AGN! God bless Nigeria!
