Nigerian business owner calls out Airtel for refusing to pay her after winning lawsuit against them

A Nigerian business owner, Adetoke Oluwo, has called out Nigerian network provider Airtel for refusing to pay her after she won a lawsuit against them.

The frustrated business owner took out time to pen down a lengthy note to her followers, explaining what went down between her and the network provider.

“Summary – They allowed fraudsters to swap my sim,” she writes on her Instagram page. According to her, she took Airtel to court and won a case against them where they were asked to refund her the money stolen from her account due to their negligence. Since 2016 till date, Airtel has not paid up.

The really pained Adetoke has now taken to her Instagram page to call them out, writing: “My name is Adetoke, Owner, @sgtcclothing!

“So in 2016,@airtelnigeria authorized an illegal sim swap on my major line at that time, which was attached to all my bank accounts. You can google ADETOKE VS AIRTEL for the back story.

“Summary- They allowed fraudsters to swap my sim. All they had to do was get my email, click on “forgot password”, chose recovery number, which they already had access to, and log me out while they conveniently transferred money because my email had the receipt of my last International Transaction which exposes your last 4 bank digits. This knowledge is in the public domain but the assurance we have is that our SIM cards are secured by the Telecommunications we have and we never have to worry, or so I assumed.

“I noticed there was no network on my phone, and I went to Airtel to complain. Unknown to me that my money was being taken &I didn’t even get a mail notification. Unbeknownst to me that 400,000 had already been moved. Their staff (even though I went there repeatedly) HID IT FROM ME for 2 days, I discovered this from Gtbank.

“They called me to their HQ in Banana Island ONLY WHEN IT WENT VIRAL, & confessed, narrated how the sim swap happened, where it happened&promised to refund my money the next working day (this is 2020) but I shouldn’t say anything online again lol. SINCE 2016, THEY NEVER PAID ME A DIME! MONEY THAT WAS MEANT FOR MY COURSES IN THE UK! @airtelnigeria went cold even when they told me to my face that they couldn’t ascertain sim swaps from franchise offices unless proper Airtel Offices! Meaning, We are doomed and at the mercy of fraudsters who know these loopholes and are ready to feast on the next target. Who will be next?

“Anyways, I won the case and the money eventually awarded by the Court was about 1M naira. But Airtel has refused to pay me since 2019. So, we are going to the High Court.

“I WILL SHOW UP DAILY AND I WON’T BE QUIET!”
