Judge orders Netflix to take down controversial movie depicting Jesus as gay

A Brazilian judge has ordered Netflix to take down the controversial short film which depicts Jesus as gay.

The ruling was made by a Rio De Janeiro based judge Benedicto Abicair who ordered that Netflix to stop showing the Christmas film which many described as blasphemous for depicting Jesus as gay.

Back when the film was first released, it generated widespread backlash towards the streaming giant and many called for it to be taken down.

Many called for the film to be taken down, but Netflix turned deaf ears to the complaints.

The complaints did not stop, however. A petition was started for Netflix to stop the show and it amassed over one million signatures.

The film was produced by the Rio based company, Porta dos Fundos, whose headquarters were targeted with a gasoline bomb on Christmas eve.

Netflix has, however, declined to comment on this new development. Porta dos Fundos has also declined to comment on this development even though it goes against an earlier ruling rejecting censorship of the program.

The judge’s ruling is still valid though and it will be interesting to see what Netflix does now.
