However, while Queen Elizabeth said she’s proud of Meghan Markle, her father, Thomas Markle has expressed his disappointment at the couple’s decision.
Thomas, who claims Meghan has not spoken to him since her wedding in May 2018 lashed out at the couple for their decision.
The 75-year-old told Channel 5 news in a new documentary that Meghan is tossing away every girl’s dream for money. He said:
“It’s disappointing because she actually got every girl’s dream. Every young girl wants to become a princess and she got that and now she’s tossing that away, for, it looks like she’s tossing that away for money.”
Channel 5 filmed the documentary after the couple’s announcement that they would step back as senior members of the Royal Family.
Part of the documentary aired on Sunday and Channel 5 has revealed that the rest will air in the coming weeks.
