America’s Major League Soccer (MLS) has released the list of players who made the Team of the Week, and it features two Nigeria-born players, Ike Opara and Nedum Onuoha.
A defender, Opara plays for Minnesota United. Last week, he helped the club to a 1-0 win over Colorado Rapids. This year alone, the 30-year-old has been chosen for the ‘Team of the Week’ an impressive seven times. No wonder experts are already tipping him for the Defender of the Year award.
Warri-born Nedum Onuoha plays as a defender for Real Salt Lake. This is the third time the 32-year-old is making the Team of the Week this season. He earned a spot on the list due to his stellar form during his club’s 3-0 win over Seattle Sounders last Thursday.
Other players on the list include 2019 FIFA Puskás award nominee, Zlatan Ibrahimovi?, Nemanja Nikolic, Adama Diomandea, Lassi Lappalainen, Darlington Nagbe, Valentin Castellanos, Johnny Russell, Miles Robinson and Matt Turner.
