Ifeanyi George, who was Enugu Ranger’s assistant captain has been confirmed dead, following a ghastly motor accident. Also lost to the accident was his fellow teammate Emmanuel Ogbu.
The incident happened on Sunday morning while they were travelling alongside one other of their teammates. They were said to be heading to Lagos due to the break given to them because of the coronavirus outbreak when their vehicle rammed into a truck.
This is indeed sad news. The fatal accident occurred at Abudu section of the Benin-Agbor expressway. The players were said to have been driving due to the ban on flights in Nigeria.
The NFF took to their official Twitter handle to tweet: “We are shocked to hear of the sad passing of striker Ifeanyi George and Emmanuel Ogbu players of @rangersint. Both players were involved in a fatal auto crash earlier on Sunday. Our prayers and thoughts are with their families and Rangers’ Mgt. May their souls Rest In Peace.”
