Ighalo wore the number 25 jersey and broke two records in one night – he became both the 200th player to play for Manchester United in the premier league and the first Nigerian to do so.
Ighalo joined the Red Devils from Chinese club, Shanghai Shenhua, in January on a six-month transfer loan.
Ighalo joined Manchester United for their third win against Chelsea this season, where the red devils beat their counterparts 2-0, causing a huge disappointment for Chelsea fans.
Chelsea started with Caballero; James, Christensen, Rudiger, Azpilicueta; Kante, Jorginho, Kovacic; Pedro, Batshuayi, Willian while players Kepa, Tomori, Zouma, Alonso, Barkley, Mount, Giroud made the bench.
Manchester United’s line up had De Gea, Bailly, Maguire, Shaw. Wan Bissaka, Matic, Fred, Bruno, Williams; James, Martial in an orthodox 3-4-21 formation with Odion Ighalo making the bench alongside Romero, Jones, Dalot, Mata, Pereira and Greenwood.
Unfortunately, Chelsea’s team was not enough to secure a win and they were soundly beaten by the United side, and at Stamford Bridge no less.
