MI Abaga remembers legendary late rapper B-Elect at Martell Cypher 2

Late Nigerian legendary rapper B-Elect was fondly remembered by MI Abaga during the second edition of Martell Cypher 2: The Purification, which premiered on Tuesday.

B-Elect, born Andrew Bright Erighono, died on 8 June 2019  after suffering a cardiac arrest. He was a member of now-defunct Nigerian rap supergroup Da Thorobreds comprising Obiwon, illBliss, Elajoe and Amaka.

The group won the award for Best Hip Hop song by a group/duo at the maiden edition of Hip Hop World Awards (Now Headies) for their title track, ‘Streethop’ off their only work as a group – 5-track EP, Streethop.

MI’s praise of B-Elect comes at the end of the 7-minute cypher that also features 100 Crowns rappers Blaqbonez, A-Q and Loose Kaynon.

Rest in peace to B-Elect, spent his last year trying to get the game to reconnect,” MI raps in the cypher filled with punchlines and quotable lyrics.

A legend in my eye. So hear it from me, respect. Salute king, my prayer is never may we forget.”

B-Elect spent parts of 2018 investing in Nigerian hip hop. His Bightz Recordz record label launched its first artist Protek with the release of a debut album Zion Republican in 2018.

B-Elect had three solo albums to his credit: Beats, Rhymes and Theology, a collection of his old songs released in 2006, Hard Listeners (2011) and Gospel Truf (2016).

Apart from being a rapper, B-Elect was a writer, poet and a public speaker.

He also had a career in marketing communications and public relations and hosted the Naira P Show on Metro FM before his death.
