Nicki Minaj just confirmed that she and British pop star Adele have collaborated on a new song.
It wasn’t supposed to be told to the public but Nicki Minaj blurted it out after Entertainment Tonight asked her about it during the launch of her Fendi Prints On fashion line in Beverly Hills.
“Yes and yes, yes and yes, wooo hoo!” says Nicki Minaj. “But Adele made me swear to secrecy that I’m not allowed to tell anyone that I’m working with her. And that we already shot a video. And it’s an epic song! Ahh!”
We guess it’s no longer a secret. And should the song be released, it would be Adele’s first collaboration in 10 years. The last time she collaborated on a song was in 2009 when she was guested on Daniel Merriweather’s Water and a Flame. However, it was recently reported that Adele, Beyonce and Coldplay are working on a song for OneRepublic’s upcoming album, Human, expected to be released in November 2019.
Meanwhile, Adele is expected to drop her fourth studio album this November. There are speculations that the album might be called 30 after one of her post on Instagram on her birthday in May ended with “30 will be a drum n bass record to spite you“. Her previous albums, 19, 21 and 25 had all made number on music charts. So, it’s no brainer that a collaboration with an artist of her calibre is enough to tempt Nicki Minaj out of her self-imposed retirement.
Furthermore, rumour has it that Adele is expected to drop a new single this Friday, her first since the 2005 release of her third studio album, 25. Well, Friday is around the corner and we would soon know about it.
