Nigerian-British actor David Oyelowo is reportedly in final stages of talks to join the cast of Good Morning, Midnight adaption, according to Variety.

Good Morning, Midnight is a novel set in a post-apocalyptic universe. It tells the parallel stories of Augustine (Clooney), a lonely scientist in the Arctic, and an astronaut onboard the Aether spacecraft, which is trying to return home to Earth, as Augustine races to make contact with the spaceship.

George Clooney will play Augustine, while also directing the movie for Netflix. Oyelowo’s role has not yet been revealed, but he will be joining a cast that already includes Felicity Jones (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) and Kyle Chandler (The Wolf of Wall Street).

With George Clooney, an Oscar darling, starring and directing, as well as Netflix handling distribution, like they have for Oscar winners and nominees in the past, this role — whatever it turns out to be — could be a legitimate shot at an Oscar for Oyelowo.
