Former Egyptian MP Hamdy al-Fakharany’s son was found dead in his room on Monday night where several notes with scribbled handwriting and unknown symbols referring to the infamous Blue Whale game were found, according to his sister.

According to a Wikipedia entry, the Blue Game game or challenge involves an administrator and a participant who sets one task per day for the participant to complete over a period of 50 days. “The tasks seem innocuous to begin with (get up at 4:30 am, watch a horror movie), and move on to self-harm leading to the participant committing suicide on the final day.” About 130 suicide have reportedly been committed by participants in the game.

Yasmeen al-Fakharany took to her Facebook account to blame the game for her brother’s death, stating that they found papers with whale drawings among other symbols related to the game.

She added that her brother was a religious boy and would not have committed suicide that easily, especially that he was not going through any major problems that would push him to take his own life.

Yasmeen said that children are easily prone to the “devilish game”, and implored her followers to supervise their children’s’ cellphones and computers so that they do not fall victim to it.
