Facebook Drama: Man Accuses Wife Of Chatting With Ex-Lover And Seeks Divorce In Court.

A customary court in Ikorodu Lagos State today witnessed another version of marital drama after a 45 year old man known as Samsideen Apanisile who works as a marketer asked the court to dissolve his marriage of 14 years because he read his wife’s Facebook messages.

Mr. Samsideen Apanisile alleged that he wants his 14 year old marriage that has produced four children to end because he believes that his wife has not been faithful to him and has not accorded him the amount of respect he deserves as the head of the family. He further went on to say that he had proof of her chat with a man on Facebook who he believes is her ex-lover (he presented the alleged printout to the court), he said:

“My wife fornicates. Apart from that, she is very disrespectful to me and my family. I have proof of her communication with men on Facebook. I have a print-out of her conversation from her Facebook inbox. I am fed up with the union. I can no longer live with an adulterous wife. An adulterous wife can kill her husband, please separate us.”

However his wife, Basirat, pleaded with the court that she did not want the marriage to end because she has been faithful to her husband and would not get a marriage mate with four children, she pleaded:

“My husband is always making phone calls. He does not have time for me. He is accusing me of infidelity but I was never jealous when he brought another woman to our house. I am not fornicating as he has alleged. There is no man that would marry me with four children. I plead for settlement.”

Mrs Funmi Adeola who presided over the court adjourned the case until the second week in December and however advised both parties to work towards an amicable solution before the time the court will resit and she assured them that investigations will be carried out to ascertain the issues raised.
