According to Wall Street Journal, the move is described as tentative – aka they could back down on the move. Presently, Instagram stories are limited to a length of 15 seconds and videos in the main feed can last up to one minute.
It’s unclear if the feature will be allowed only in the stories section, or if the vertical video will be brought to the feed.

After its launch in 2010, The photo-sharing application rapidly gained popularity, with 1 million registered users in 2 months, 10 million in a year, and ultimately 700 million as of April 2017.
