A 14-year-old girl has been rescued from her abusive “guardian” after a concerned citizen alerted the Lagos State Child Protection Unit.

It’s one of those stories you hear that make one’s blood boil, and you wonder whether some people are human beings or just wild animals. It blows the mind how any person can inflict such pain on any child under whatever circumstances. Deep wounds on the girl’s body and only God and the perpetrator know what severe pain the young girl must have undergone.

The victim, Unwana Emmanuel, had been under severe torture for 16 months since she started living with her supposed guardian, simply identified as Mummy Chidera, the PM News reports. An anonymous concerned citizen reported her situation to the Child Protection Unit of the Lagos State Ministry of Youth and Social Development, who then went to rescue the poor girl. She was battered with scars all over her body inflicted upon her by an unrepentant and wicked guardian, who presumably thought she was hitting a wall and not a child this past 16 months.

Unwana, who resides at 6, Alamu Close, Surulere since July 2016 relocated to Lagos from Akwa Ibom due to her parent’s inability to provide her with an education, leaving her in the care Mummy Chidera who had since then continuously abused her physically and at some times delayed her going to school.

She was immediately taken to the Juvenile Welfare Centre, while Mummy Chidera had been charged to court.

Hopefully, the poor traumatised girl will get the help she needs going forward.
