All around the world, women have been breaking the glass ceiling and the Arab community is not left out.
According to the website, Middle East Eye, Souad Abderrahim has been elected the first female mayor of the capital of the country, Tunis.
Abderrahim, a 54-year-old pharmacist, a former maker and an advocate for women’s right ran as an independent candidate under the Ennahda party list. After her win, Abderrahim said: “I dedicate this win to all Tunisians and all women who have struggled to be in such senior positions.”
